???? This might be a touchy subject. Are you a woman working from home, mainly for family care responsibilities, while your male colleagues are returning to the office? What could that do to your career?
???? Have you noticed the quality of work you get and are asked to do is not at the same level as your male counterparts who are in the office?
✅ We know there are #mentalhealth benefits of covid safe in-person collaboration and connection with colleagues. We are wired for human interaction, not solely in the virtual world.
Virginia Briggs suggests there could be other risks specific to women with less flexibility to return to work.
???? My take on her views is this: will we see an unconscious bias re-emerge in workplaces that previously and consciously embraced diversity and the positive gains it delivers?
???? If women are literally out of sight, could they subconsciously slip out of mind for good projects, complex work, team collaborations?
This could have a huge backward impact on their careers as well as their mental health.
???? All kudos to Virginia Briggs for raising this demoralising potential consequence of covid. It is a Mindfield for leaders.
???? What do you think? Have you any experience of this yet?
