Are you a WYSIWYG kind of person? ????Are you an ‘open book’? Would people know how you’re really feeling?
Near Lightning Ridge, NSW, Stanley stands 18m tall, an emu made by artist John Murray from VW Beetle parts & a pair of rusting satellite dishes.
What you can’t see looking at Stanley, is the time capsule (locked for 50 years) lodged inside.
It got me thinking. We too, are made up of what you see above the surface but also what you can’t see below.
Check in with yourself and with others, & pause to take a deeper look.
Don’t be fobbed off with ‘I’m fine’ if clearly, they’re not. For yourself, watch the trap of not getting support because eg: ‘others are worse off than me’.
Certainty & predictability, the foundations on which we lived are smashed & need to be rebuilt.
Our #mentalhealth depends on them. We may seem shiny in the sun but in the dark inside, are inevitably valid concerns, challenges, questions that can’t wait 50 years to be uncovered and rebuilt.
???? So on World Mental Health Day and every day, focus on your own. Self-care is the keystone, the piece that locks all elements of our health in place. If you remove the keystone, the structure collapses.
???? What are you doing to keep your mental health keystone secure?
