What do you do in the bathroom?
It seems that mums in Wales use them more often! Why, and what for?
A recent UK study found Welsh mums use the bathroom to escape the challenges of life in lockdown to find ‘me time’.
Like mums all around the world, they face increased responsibilities (most of the childcare, homeschooling and household chores), while also trying to hold down jobs and do them well.
The result is that 78% of these mums get only 3 hours ‘me’ time and more than a third, none at all.
Working mums also fear juggling life in lockdown will result in a loss of visibility that could set equality back decades.
No wonder these Welsh mums report their #mentalhealth has declined, with single mothers disproportionately affected.
‘Me time’ is vital for good mental health, to recharge and re-energise. Self-care is critical for supporting and/or leading others.
So have you agreed your ‘me’ time with your family? Do that then post your ‘me’ time, non-negotiable, on the fridge door!
???? Do you relate to the Welsh mums? Where do you go for your ‘me’ time? Do you stick to your ‘me’ time plans?
