❓Do you trust your colleagues? Do you know your #mentalhealth is affected by whether you believe people will do these three things:
✅Keep their word?
????Honour their agreements?
???????? Step on others to succeed themselves?
That is an assertion in The Ethical Advantage report (https://lnkd.in/g4gs6wT) commissioned the Ethics Centre.
It quotes the World Values Survey. That says 56% of Australians think most people can be trusted.
???? Wow! Think about that. It means 44% of us do not!
The Ethical Advantage puts it like this:
“The less able you are to trust in the people around you to act ethically, the more likely your health – both mental and physical – is to suffer.”
The good news is that it only requires a 10% improvement in ethical behaviour in others – ie they act with integrity – to give your mental health a positive bump.
???? Given the increase in mental health calls for help over the pandemic, I wonder how much poor mental health has been triggered by colleagues and managers acting unethically?
❓???? What’s your experience at work (or at home)? Do you think trust impacts mental health?
